There was sorrow as tears flowed ceaselessly Tuesday evening in Uzere community in Isoko South local government area of Delta State following a fatal motor accident which claimed the lives of nine family members including a suckling baby.

It was gathered that the accident occurred along Ughelli/ Asaba expressway as an 18-seater bus conveying the nine family members and the toddler including some persons going for a marriage ceremony from Warri to Asaba were involved in the accident.

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) Delta State Commander, Mr Random Kulven, who confirmed the accident and the perished family members including the baby, said: “the nine family members and the suckling baby were related to a groom who was about to marry in Asaba.

“They were coming from Warri when their hired vehicle with the driver on high speed lost control to crash into a big pothole and somersaulted, leaving almost the 18 persons perished including the driver.

“The people we identified in the bus were: father, mother, uncles, grandchildren and the suckling baby. They were all roasted as the bus caught fire when it somersaulted, it’s really a tragedy, only few people who survived, were rushed to FMC Asaba for treatment.”
